Inviting Women Who Desire Sabbath Renewal

Including Spiritual Nature Retreats for Clergywomen and Women in Ministry

In Woodstock, Illinois 65 miles west of Chicago

Sabbath Renewal

We dedicate ourselves to providing spiritual renewal retreats in a sacred place that nurtures women’s spiritual, physical and emotional needs as we offer God-centered hospitality and programming, including tending to renewal for women in ministry.

As a deer longs for flowing streams,

so my soul thirsts for God, for the living God.

Psalm 42:1-2

Just for You

What is unique about our residential retreats? You are the only guest or you may attend with up to three other women who come as a group with you depending on rooming choices. This is your time for spiritual renewal and nourishment.

Hospitality is at the core of our mission.

Individual Retreats

The overnight spiritual renewal nature retreat is limited to one to four women attending together as a group depending on rooming. The bedrooms have a queen bed and private bathroom.

Length of Stay

Retreats are usually for one night/two days or two nights/three days. However, we will do our best to accommodate your request for the length of stay.

Retreat Options

Choose a private retreat with the Unhurried Sabbath program yours to explore whenever and however you wish. Rev. Magrini is also available as your spiritual guide.

Small Groups

Small groups are welcome to lead your own one day retreat or with Rev. Magrini as your retreat leader. We are creative in hosting programs indoors and outdoors.

Light healthy meals are provided using organic foods from the Woodstock farmer’s market when in season keeping your dietary needs in mind. The full kitchen is yours to use should you want to bring your own food and cook!

Themed Retreats

Thematic programs are one of the ways to center your heart and soul while you are here. These retreats delve into topics such as the seasons of the spiritual journey, Scripture guiding daily life, and spiritual disciplines.

Private Retreats

You know in your heart and soul what you are longing for in your faith journey. When you come for your own private retreat the time is yours to do what is most renewing. We encourage you to bring an inspirational book, music, or symbol from home, for example. You may want to bring walking shoes or outdoor clothes. We have mats and blocks for yoga. If you would like ideas for your retreat Rev. Magrini is ready to help before or during your stay.

Retreat Programs

Unhurried Sabbath is our cornerstone program. This includes writings from contemporary authors and ancient thinkers, prayer experiences, and thought provoking questions for reflection. Find your sacred center through release, discovery, renewal, and celebration. Women in ministry, whether within a faith community, as a caregiver, volunteer, or clergy spouse, just to name a few, will find this retreat soothing to the weary soul.

Guest Review

Stilling the Restlessness

The spirit of Woodlands and the gracious hospitality moved me and refreshed me. The silence and privacy stilled my restlessness. Having time with Cheryl on a directed retreat was deeply satisfying when I was struggling with personal matters. Her gentle guidance shook me loose from the difficult places where I felt stuck. She gave me space to look at my life with fresh eyes again.

Refreshed and Renewed

Woodland Spiritual Retreats offers a delightful opportunity for Sabbath rest! Rev. Cheri Magrini’s “five-star” accommodations are just the start. Walk the woodland trails in any season, relax and meditate or peruse dozens of spiritual books. Enjoy the gardens, use art supplies, or wander the nearby forest preserve prairie. You’ll come away refreshed and renewed.
