Spiritual Nature Retreats For Clergywomen and Women in Ministry in the Chicago and Midwest Area

Welcoming All Women Who Desire a Sacred Time for Renewal

Spiritual Nurturing

We dedicate ourselves to providing retreats in a sacred place with a renewing experience that will nurture women’s spiritual, physical and emotional needs as we offer God-centered hospitality and programming. We offer hosting your one day retreat or residential retreat, provide our retreat leadership for individuals and small groups, and host congregational groups.  Hospitality is at the core of our mission.

As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul thirsts for God,  for the living God.     Psalm 42:1-2

The overnight spiritual renewal nature retreat is limited to one to four women attending together as a group depending on rooming. The two bedrooms each have their own bathroom and are located to allow for privacy.

Small groups are welcome to lead your own one day retreat or with Rev. Magrini as your retreat leader. Inquire about options as space for planning or leadership events. We want to be creative in hosting programs.

We want you to find your time here renewing. We will do our best to accommodate your request for the length of stay. We are easily accessible by interstate and one hour from the O’Hare International Airport.

Light healthy meals are provided using organic foods from the Woodstock farmer’s market when in season keeping your dietary needs in mind. The full kitchen is yours to use should you want to bring your own food and cook!

Design your own retreat or select a self-guided thematic program with the option of a guided retreat with Rev. Magrini, always allowing for your own individual private time.

Thematic programs are one of the ways to center your heart and soul while you are here. These retreats delve into topics such as the seasons of the spiritual journey, Scripture guiding daily life, and spiritual disciplines.

Retreat Options

Design your own retreat or select a thematic retreat program as a self-guided retreat. You also have the option of a guided retreat with Rev. Magrini, always with your own individual time set aside. The thematic retreat program includes writings from contemporary authors and ancient thinkers, prayer experiences such as the walking nature prayer and contemplative prayer, thought provoking questions for reflection and more.

Be at Peace

Located in Woodstock, IL on six wooded acres with native gardens and walking trails, the spiritual retreats provide a set apart time and holy place from carrying the weight, worry, stress and pain that can be overwhelming in ministry and family life. Here we slow the pace as you are bathed in hospitality. Let your body, heart, mind, and soul be soothed as you breathe deeply.

Design Your Own Retreat

You know in your heart and soul what you are longing for in the faith journey. When you design your own retreat we encourage you to bring an inspirational book, music, or symbol from home, for example. Think about your intention in coming here. Maybe it is to relax your body so plan on bringing walking shoes, outdoor clothes, or yoga clothes. We have mats, blocks, blankets, etc. Think about how you will take note of your journey, perhaps with a journal or art. Rev. Magrini can help you with a plan for your retreat, with knowing it is your time that is most important.

Thematic Retreats

The Unhurried Sabbath  retreat theme is designed for the spiritual renewal of clergywomen, lay women in ministry in a broad range of roles such as within the congregation, in vocation, in the community, as caregivers or volunteers, and clergy spouses. You will find your sacred center once more through release, discovery, renewal, and celebration.

The Praying the Psalms theme focuses on the range of emotions expressed in the Psalms. Through these ancient writings you will experience morning body praise, nature walking prayer, contemplative prayer, blessings, guided meditation, morning and evening prayer and creative artistic prayer.

Guest Review

Stilling the Restlessness

The spirit of Woodlands and the gracious hospitality moved me and refreshed me. The silence and privacy stilled my restlessness. Having time with Cheryl on a directed retreat was deeply satisfying when I was struggling with personal matters. Her gentle guidance shook me loose from the difficult places where I felt stuck. She gave me space to look at my life with fresh eyes again.

Refreshed and Renewed

Woodland Spiritual Retreats offers a delightful opportunity for Sabbath rest! Rev. Cheri Magrini’s “five-star” accommodations are just the start. Walk the woodland trails in any season, relax and meditate or peruse dozens of spiritual books. Enjoy the gardens, use art supplies, or wander the nearby forest preserve prairie. You’ll come away refreshed and renewed.
